    Chez Rebecca Anne: Tomato Jam

Tomato jam. The absolute purpose of cherry tomatoes (especially sungolds) in this eater's opinion. Don't get me wrong - cherry tomatoes are great in salads or blistered with fresh pasta, basil, salt, pepper and a good olive oil. I am sure there's a long list. But. Tomato jam. It is a beacon of summer flavor that I dream of all winter long. That I eagerly await when I plant the tomatoes each spring. That I giggle as I prepare. That, when I get to enjoy, I find myself s

Chez Rebecca Anne: Summer Harvest Hash

Summer often brings an abundance of zucchini to our gardens, CSAs and farmer's markets. For me, this year is no exception. And isn’t this a wonderful problem to have?? Here's how I recently used mine plus a bit of sweet corn (also now in season) & garlic scapes (which is starting to fade from local markets for the year - I happened to have a few leftover...). True confession: I have actually made this twice now...it was that good the first time around. Ingredients: 2 -

Chez Rebecca Anne - recipes for the week (April 3, 2017)

Each week, typically on Sunday, I cook for the week ahead. I do it for two reasons: (1) cooking a meal for one always leaves leftovers, so why not embrace leftovers? ; and (2) having a meal that needs only reheating or assembling already prepared allows me to be sure I am eating healthy during the work week. I like to spend part of Saturday morning after teaching my two yoga classes, in winter and spring, at the farmer's market to find inspiration for what to make for the w

Simple, always delicious home cooking - 2 recipe ideas

My day-to-day cooking is cooking for 1. Yes, I entertain often and can/do cook for a crowd. But day-to-day, it is just me - so I have gotten into the practice of making 2 big home cooked meals on the weekend to have for lunch and dinner during the work week. No having to come home after work, teaching or the gym to have to start a meal from scratch. I assemble the meal - and am able to sit down to eat. Or at lunch time, I can spend time going for a walk, rather than go
